    Dunoon Triathlon

    The first ever Dunoon Triathlon takes place on Saturday 20th May 2017.

    This is an entry level event that encourages participation of any fitness and ability in the beautiful coastal surroundings of Dunoon.

    Participant can enter as individuals, or 3 person teams.

    With a 400m swim, a 22km cycle and a 6km run/walk it is designed to encourage the ‘have a go’ philosophy and participation will be made up of all ages and fitness levels.

    This will be the first year running the event with participants heading to the Dunoon from far and wide to soak up the atmosphere and achieve their goals and enjoy an introduction to multisport and triathlon.

    The Dunoon Presents Triathlon is a pool-based triathlon involving a 400m swim, 22km Road bike ride on the coastal road towards Innellan. Finished of with a pleasant out and back 6km run.

    This is a perfect and very doable triathlon aimed at beginners and those who are looking for something to keep themselves motivated and fit. The Dunoon Presents Triathlon has only one ‘quick’ transition, between the bike and run, so is even more suited to those just starting out on multi-sport as you get a rest between your swim and cycle!

    The aim is to encourage everyone to experience the wonderful world of triathlon and make it fun and rewarding for all competitors. Whether a seasoned triathlete or a first time beginner this race will have something for you.

    Although the thought of it may be terrifying a triathlon needn’t be! If this is your first triathlon. Then we think you will love this format to ease you into the world of multi sport events.

    Scottish Rally Championship Round 5

    Some of the most iconic forest stages in British rallying are returning to the national series : Round 5 of the Scottish Rally Championship makes a sensational comeback on 24th June this year and much of the action will be reasonably close to Dunoon in the forests. Bring the family all day, either in town or in the forests to see the cars close up either in the main service area in Dunoon Stadium or at the ceremonial start in the morning in the town centre.

Watch the top highland dancers in the world compete in the finals of the World Highland Dancing Championship, listen to the pipe bands battle it out in the Cowal Pipe Band Championship and cheer on the world’s best heavy athletes as they toss the caber. You can also catch top live Scottish music in the Ceilidh Tent. To round off the day, witness the spine-tingling salute to the Chieftain.     Due to the Royal National MOD happening in Dunoon next year from the 12th - 20th October, CowalFest will have walks, and evening events covering 8 days, rather than the usual 10 days.

    Cowalfest offers an 8 day festival during October. This annual Walking and Outdoors Festival is one of the largest and most varied walking festivals in Scotland, with many walks led by expert and knowledgeable walk leaders.

    All ages and abilities are catered for and the walks cover interest areas of wildlife, bird watching, art, heritage, folklore, tai chi, great gardens, and some great hill walks.

    CowalFest Argyll 2018 is organised by the Cowal Walking Festival Association — a voluntary body which draws support from the people, communities, organisations and businesses from throughout the Cowal Peninsula.
