Angling, fishing and Game Stalking
The warm waters of the Firth of Clyde offer rich pickings for the sea angler. There are many rocky outcrops along the coastline of the area that are easily accessed and give plenty of opportunity for sea fishing for mackerel to conger eels, as do the sheltered piers of Dunoon, Lochgoilhead and Tighnabruaich. The rivers and inland lochs of Cowal provide further excellent choice for fishing. Game stalking is also available throughout the area.

Inland loch fishing
Loch Eck, set amongst the forested hills north of Dunoon, has angling for salmon, trout and powan.
The Rivers Massan, Cur and Ruel all provide a good day’s fishing. For good value and outstanding scenery there is no better place to stay than Glendaruel Caravan Park which sells permits for fly fishing for salmon and sea trout on the River Ruel.
DC Marine runs “The Morag” which can accommodate 10 passengers. Trips of over one hour include the opportunity to try your hand at fishing for Mackerel, Pollock, Saithe, Cod and Codling. All the necessary fishing gear is carried on board. Enthusiastic anglers can charter the boat purely for fishing expeditions and visit the best fishing grounds in the area.
Game stalking in Cowal
Winston Churchill, who runs a business in Dunoon providing venison from the wild as well as other speciality food products, also provides stalking services for stag, hind and roe deer in season.
