The Drimsynie Circular Walk

Distance: 3.86km | Time: 1 – 2 hours | Forestry road most of the way

“Starting and finishing on the Drimsynie Estate, this is a signposted walk complete with viewpoint markers along the way naming the main points. Popular for walking the dog but also gives access to the higher Lettermay walk. An easy but rewarding trek ideal for families.” Recommended by: Leonard Gow, Lochgoilhead Holidays.

Walk Description

The walk is signposted from the car park at the Drimsynie House Hotel near Lochgoilhead.

  • Follow the way markers through the holiday home caravan park until you come to the start of the forestry road that takes you up behind and above the holiday home caravans and chalets. It is not long before you come across a picnic table and viewpoint marker which is handy for naming the peaks across Loch Goil as well as the main features within sight.
  • The view really open up now that you have gained some height. There is a steeper part ahead but as it’s all on good road it is not difficult. By now you are above Corrow Farm and from here the view opens up to your right to include Beinn Bheula and Beinn Lochain. You will come to a split in the road and a direction sign for the Gleann Ban Walk leading up to the Gleann Ban Gorge. It is a short walk up to it but the best reason to go is to carry on at the end and scramble up to the higher forestry road and carry on back to Lettermay and Corrow. This extension will add the best part of 2 hours to your walk.
  • The other option when you come to the split in the road is to carry on down the forestry road where it will twist and turn before bringing you to Corrow Farm. This is a working farm so depending on the time of year there may well be lambs about.
  • The circuit takes you down to the public road for a short section before directing you up through the chalet centre. The signs will finally direct you back to the Drimsynie House Hotel car park.
